OpenSHAPA (http://openshapa.org) is a Java based, open source, cross platform, video coding software developed by NICTA in Australia. My work on this project, as part of NYU’s Infant Action Lab, has been to create an easy to use API that allows non-programmers to interface with their coded data via script. This file is shipped with OpenSHAPA, as well as being available in their User Guide, as well as examples of how the API has been used. The main goal of this project is to allow people using OpenSHAPA, who are mostly developmental psychologists that have little to no programming experience, quickly learn how to manipulate their data via scripting.
